2006 was an awesome year…
All its picking of sides
Knowing who had a kind heart and who to despise
Watching the Kens and Barbies
I’m not totally surprised
You worship your make-up covered masks
You praise the top scorers
Bowing down to the winner’s prize
The truth is you won’t get far
With beauty tips and touchdowns
Let me hear you practice:
“Do you want fries with that or would you like to super-size?”
You pressure and worry us.
Demand and demand
We do realize we have to take responsibility.
Doing homework, doing the chores and so much more.
Pressure from work, peers and from ourselves
You are merely blindfolded.
All you say is that we have hormonal rage
Saying this is predictable, we act out at this age!
Wouldn’t you want…
To escape this black and white world
To be reborn in a paradise splashed in colour.
Where you are allowed to trip, fall and just laugh at yourself
What an imperfect beauty you are!
Not what your parents want you to become
Not what your friends decide upon
Not what you expect to be
But who you are born to be.
