It’s my party and I’ll…buy books if I want to! That’s right—it’s my birthday!
As I get older, I’m a lot more into low key celebrating, but I still have my own fun. Of course, as a blogger, I figured I’d document what I did and share it with you.
I started celebrating yesterday with a friend. We went out to have some sushi at one of my favourite places.
Today, I slept in and then spent my morning in PJs, watching a bit of Love, Lust, or Run with Stacy London and ate some yummy pancakes and bacon. The sky was smoky gray, but there was a beautiful snowfall. I had the fireplace going to keep me warm too.
Every year, it’s pretty expected to get multiple phone calls from my extended family wishing me a happy birthday. It’s always great to hear from them and share what’s going on in my life.
In the afternoon, I wanted to get out a bit, specifically to go to the bookstore. Every year, I like to get myself a few books with my birthday money. I also treated myself to some coffee from Starbucks. I got a free drink since it was my birthday. Check out what my barista did for me.
I love the smell of coffee and books. I enjoy roaming around a bookstore, finding books I might be interested in and the new releases. My dad came along with me too, even helping me find the copy of each book I wanted in good condition. Some people might roll their eyes if a book lover examines every copy of a title to find the perfect one, but it’s important to me. My family and close friends have just come to accept it.
To my surprise, Fairest by Marissa Meyer was recently released, so I definitely had to get that one. As well, a friend of mine raved about Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell that I just had to add it to my book collection. I ended up picking up the collector’s edition since it had an interview with the author and beautiful fan art.
Tonight, I went to a restaurant of my choosing with my family. My brother even graced me with his presence. Even got to ride in his fancy new car, chatting with him about gaming, sports, and listening to Imagine Dragon’s new album Smoke + Mirrors (which I have now added to my own playlist). The food was yummy. I ended up getting the “Messy Fish Sandwich.”
Once we got home, it was cake time. We had one of my favourites: German Chocolate cake. It was the perfect end to my 27th birthday.
