This post is long overdue, but I wanted to share my experience meeting the lovely and geek-tastic Kat Kruger, the author of The Night has Teeth.
On January 29, a very rainy night, I met up with a few friends and book lovers at the quaint book shop called Type Books. They hosted Kat’s book launch and set her up in a space of her own, where her fans could get their books signed and have a chat with her. There was a table nearby with goodies: cupcakes, wolf paw chocolates, and Fierce Ink Press stickers.
Having talked to Kat on Facebook and Twitter as well as being a part of her book blog tour via Paper Droids, it was awesome to finally meet her in person. I fangirl’d with her over all the geek references, Arden ( a character from her book I absolute love!), and how I related to Madison, one of her strong female characters in the novel. After sending away my friends who had not read the book yet, I shared some of my reactions from different scenes in the book, especially the ending because I’m felt such a mix of intense emotions.
Also, I was able to ask her questions about her second book. I was curious if she was going to mesh the world of her werewolves with that of other supernatural creatures such as vampires, witches, ghosts, etc like some novelists tend to do. Kat explained that she has no intention to bring in other creatures into her novel nor any crazy hybrid creatures, which is totally a fresh breath of air!
In her next book, she plans to continue on from where she leaves off in book one. Connor will be venturing to a small village in Germany. I think that is very cool! I was born in Germany, so it’s great to be able to relate to some of the characters in her book. I’m already excited to get my hands on book 2. I’ve fell in love with Kat’s characters, her take on the werewolf mythology, and adore the world she has built around them.
Before my friends and I said our goodbyes, Kat shared with us a very big surprise.
This is the only quote featured on the back of her novel and it’s from the book review on Paper Droids! How cool is that?
